About The Position

The Assistant Manager partners with the General Manager to help manage overall store operations, including accounting, marketing, customer service, human resources, and food service. The role manages, assists, and directs the store team in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager is hands-on in daily operations and is responsible for store operations when the General Manager is absent. The position also learns and understands profit and loss (P&L) statements.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year of retail management experience and/or equivalent education.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Professional appearance and positive attitude.
• Team-oriented, customer-focused, honest, hardworking, and reliable attendance.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work different shifts, including morning, evening, and overnight shifts, as well as weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand, push, pull, reach, bend, squat, climb, walk, lift up to 55 pounds, work in cold indoor environments of 35 degrees or less, and perform food-service preparation.
• Ability to work in varying seasonal weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the FiveStar team to provide customer service in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Assist with timely and thorough training of the store team and educate team members on policies and communications.
• Help the General Manager address store issues and achieve effective, lasting resolutions.
• Manage merchandising and adequate inventory levels by evaluating displays, pricing, promotional signage, and out-of-stocks.
• Practice and promote the FiveStar treatment, including a friendly atmosphere, meeting customer needs, and suggestive selling.
• Help ensure inventory controls are in place, equipment is in good condition, staffing is adequate, labor budgets are followed, accounting and paperwork tasks are completed on time, and safety and robbery-prevention guidelines are followed.
• Assist in overseeing food operations, evaluating food-service-area appearance and food quality, tracking, promotions, signage, and compliance with food-service guidelines.
• Take responsibility for store operations in the General Manager’s absence.
• Learn and understand P&L statements.
• Perform customer service, management, and food-service duties as needed in daily store operations.
