The Assistant Manager is responsible for everything that happens during their shift, including store operations, staff performance, customer relations, and cost, inventory, and cash controls. The role sets an example for the crew, follows all policies and procedures, and supports team members in meeting store standards. It offers opportunities to progress from assistant manager to general manager and potentially franchise owner. The position involves operating equipment; stocking ingredients and supplies; preparing products; receiving and processing telephone orders; taking inventory and completing paperwork; and cleaning the equipment and facility daily. It also requires communicating with customers and coworkers, handling transactions, and entering orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen. Work takes place in a pizza store with varying temperatures and may involve outdoor tasks, food odors, cornmeal dust, cramped spaces, hot equipment and surfaces, sharp edges, and moving mechanical parts. Physical activities include standing, walking, lifting and carrying supplies, pushing or pulling trays, occasional climbing, bending, squatting, and continuous reaching and hand use.
