About The Position

The Assistant Service Center Manager is the right hand of the Service Center Manager and helps build and lead a high-performance team that delivers a strong Valvoline Instant Oil Change service experience. The role combines hands-on vehicle maintenance and guest service with training and supervision of hourly employees, and helps ensure company policies and procedures are followed consistently. The Assistant Manager supports daily service center operations, including staffing and scheduling, inventory, audits, safety, security, and maintaining an orderly work environment. The position offers hands-on training and the potential to become a Service Center Manager within 12 months.

Requirements

At least 1 year of supervisory experience, including coaching, training, and supervising a team.
Customer service mindset and demonstrated ability to build customer loyalty while following company procedures.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment and making sound judgments under pressure.
Experience using KPI data to monitor performance and trends and identify areas for improvement.
Schedule flexibility; weekend availability is likely.
Fluency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to stand for up to 8 hours, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and work with hands above the head.
Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Nice To Haves

Supervisory experience in a retail or service-related environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform oil changes and additional car maintenance services, educate guests about vehicle maintenance requirements, and review recommended services.
Supervise daily service center operations while working on the floor and train new team members.
Work with the team to provide excellent customer service and build trust and repeat customer loyalty.
Develop and maintain efficient weekly employee schedules, ensure optimal coverage, manage schedule conflicts, and follow labor laws.
Assist with inventory processes, maintain appropriate product levels, and schedule orders.
Assist with safety, performance, and culture audits.
Help maintain a clean, well-organized service center and a safe, secure working environment.
Open and close the service center and follow safety and security protocols.
Lead and train the team to support employee development.
