About The Position

The Assistant Manager in Training works with the General Manager to lead and develop Associates and Shift Managers while providing an outstanding customer experience. The role models company expectations, supports the Mike’s Purpose and Team Member Promise, and helps maximize profitability. The Assistant Manager must be capable of running the location when the General Manager is absent. The position includes participation in a structured management training program and responsibility for pursuing skills and knowledge not yet mastered. The role requires working all scheduled shifts, at least five days and 40 hours each week, including every other weekend unless otherwise approved. The employee must be capable of closing at least two nights and opening one morning each week, working a full schedule during the week leading up to Christmas including December 24 or December 26, and transferring between stores within the market.

Requirements

Two years of retail or service industry management experience, or equivalent leadership experience.
Ability to deal with practical problems and implement appropriate solutions.
Ability to score at least 80% on the Money Handling Skills Assessment without using a calculator.
Ability to read product manuals, reports, workplace rules, and procedures in understandable English.
Ability to speak with poise and confidence and effectively deal with customers.
Ability to work at least five days and 40 hours each week, including every other weekend, unless otherwise approved.
Ability to close at least two nights each week and open one morning each week.
Ability to work a full schedule during the week leading up to Christmas, including December 24 or December 26.
Ability to transfer between stores within the market.
Ability to meet the physical and work-environment demands described in the posting, including prolonged standing or walking, occasional lifting and carrying, and outdoor work in temperatures from 0 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Responsibilities

Execute the Mike’s Purpose and deliver on the Team Member Promise, modeling expected associate behavior and performance.
Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining acceptable wash quality and staffing, and professionally handling customer complaints and damages.
Help ensure the location operates according to company standards and guidelines and assist the General Manager in accomplishing location goals.
Manage detergent costs and inventory, staffing needs, scheduling, and timecards.
Serve as backup to the General Manager in hiring new team members.
Complete location orientation and training checklists as needed.
Develop the team through one-on-one meetings, quarterly performance check-ins, performance appraisals, weekly OPEX SOCs, managers’ certifications, and the discipline process.
Participate in termination proceedings and ensure open Manager checklists are completed by their scheduled end dates.
Assist the General Manager with location maintenance and repairs; complete OPEX checklists on time and use the fix-it book to track repairs that cannot be completed independently.
Maintain cleanliness throughout all areas of the carwash.
Participate in the structured management training program and pursue skills and knowledge not yet mastered.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Work all scheduled shifts and meet the stated weekly, weekend, opening, closing, Christmas-week, and store-transfer requirements.
