About The Position
The Source Café is an organic, seed oil-free café and gluten-free bakery focused on thoughtfully sourced ingredients and intentional food preparation. The Assistant Kitchen Manager is a hands-on role working on the line and supporting the chef with daily kitchen operations. The position offers opportunities to contribute ideas, help develop recipes, build leadership skills, and take on more responsibility as the café grows.
Requirements
- Solid cooking experience.
- Some experience leading or supporting a kitchen team, such as as a lead line cook, shift lead, or in a similar role.
- Comfort giving direction and openness to learning from others.
- Clear communication, steadiness during busy service, and reliable follow-through.
- Care about ingredients and take joy in feeding people well.
- Weekend availability and scheduling flexibility.
Responsibilities
- Cook on the line and help guide the team through prep and service.
- Support the chef with daily prep lists, station readiness, and kitchen organization.
- Assist with inventory counts, ordering needs, product rotation, and waste reduction.
- Support cook training and reinforce recipes, portions, and presentation.
- Help develop and test new recipes alongside the chef and owners.
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards throughout the shift.
- Coordinate tasks and keep the chef informed about kitchen needs.
- Lead service when assigned.
