About The Position

The Assistant Food Server Specialty supports the serving team by delivering food throughout the meal and providing attentive service in a specialty dining setting. The role requires knowledge of menu items, ingredients, cooking methods, daily specials, service standards, and the sequence of service. The assistant coordinates with the Front Waiter and Kitchen Team, ensures each course is ready for timely delivery, responds to guest needs, serves all courses including dessert, and helps clear and reset tables. The position also communicates guest dining preferences to the host team and performs other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

• One year of food and beverage experience, preferably in a fine dining restaurant.
• Working knowledge of food specialty or cuisine and service standards in specific restaurants.
• Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift.
• Ability to lift and carry trays weighing approximately 40 pounds.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to use a computer system to place food and beverage orders and process payments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete knowledge of food and beverage menu items and daily specials.
• Understand and meet sequence-of-service requirements for the Back Waiter/Food Specialist position and the serving team.
• Deliver all ordered food items throughout the meal.
• Communicate with the Front Waiter about guests’ special needs or requirements before seating.
• Prepare for each course by ensuring required ware, condiments, and other items are at the table before delivery.
• Present menu items using scripted descriptions, including ingredients and cooking methods.
• Ensure guest needs are met before departing the table.
• Coordinate food timing with the Kitchen Team and Front Waiter.
• Use the ordering system to deliver each food item to the appropriate guest without asking guests to identify their orders.
• Communicate accurately with the Front Waiter to ensure food is delivered as requested.
• Serve all courses, including dessert.
• Thank departing guests according to scripted requirements.
• Assist the team with clearing and resetting tables.
• Communicate guests’ dining preferences to the host team for recording in guest history.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
