Assistant DON (ADON) - RN
About The Position
Care Initiatives is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) who is a Registered Nurse to help lead nursing services at one of its skilled nursing communities in Iowa. The ADON provides comprehensive care and supports residents and team members while developing leadership skills for potential advancement within the organization. The role assists the Director of Nursing with planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department. It includes monitoring care delivery, coaching nursing staff, managing administrative functions, communicating with residents and families, and ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with clinical, regulatory, infection-control, and safety standards. The ADON also participates in an on-call rotation with other members of the leadership team.
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse license in good standing, valid in Iowa or able to be activated in Iowa.
- Current, valid CPR certification.
- Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and laws.
- Desire to learn and grow as part of a quality-focused clinical team.
- Strong commitment to helping others and treating them with empathy, respect, patience, and discretion.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department.
- Conduct regular rounds to monitor care delivery concerns and progress, recognize progress, and propose and help implement solutions.
- Enforce policies and guide the team, fostering individual and team growth.
- Support and coach registered nurses to promote teamwork and high-quality care.
- Manage administrative functions to improve department efficiency and support future growth.
- Communicate effectively with residents and families about care needs.
- Document care accurately to meet clinical, regulatory, and facility standards.
- Follow infection-control, safety, and compliance protocols.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with other members of the leadership team.
