Assistant DON (ADON) - RN
About The Position
Care Initiatives is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) who is a Registered Nurse to support nursing services at one of its skilled nursing communities in Iowa. The ADON helps lead the nursing department and provides comprehensive care to residents, while developing leadership experience and expertise for potential advancement within the organization. The role includes monitoring care delivery, supporting and coaching nursing staff, managing administrative functions, communicating with residents and families, and ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with applicable standards and protocols. The ADON also participates in an on-call rotation with other members of the leadership team.
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing; the license must be valid in Iowa or the candidate must be able to activate it.
- Current, valid CPR certification.
- Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and laws.
- Desire to learn and grow as part of a quality-focused clinical team.
- Commitment to helping others and treating them with empathy, respect, patience, and discretion.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department.
- Conduct regular rounds to monitor care delivery, recognize progress, and propose and help implement solutions to address concerns.
- Enforce policies and guide the team while fostering individual and team growth.
- Support and coach registered nurses to promote teamwork and high-quality care.
- Manage administrative functions to improve department efficiency and support future growth.
- Communicate with residents and families regarding care needs.
- Document care accurately to meet clinical, regulatory, and facility standards.
- Follow infection control, safety, and compliance protocols.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with other members of the leadership team.
