The Assistant Club Manager in Training (AMIT) works closely with the Club Manager to provide leadership and direction within the club and drive club performance, particularly in assigned departments. The training role prepares individuals to assume one of three Assistant Club Manager positions: Merchandising, Perishables, or Member Experience. Development and experience are tailored to the designated track, with eventual responsibility for the corresponding departments. The role supports consistent execution of policies and procedures, positive Member service, Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD) club conditions, audit compliance, collaboration with Business Partners, and team onboarding, certification, and training to support food safety and operational excellence. As needed, the AMIT serves as Manager on Duty (MOD), assuming responsibility for club operations, team leadership, and Member engagement during assigned shifts. A valid ServSafe Food Safety Certification must be obtained and maintained in good standing. A forklift license certification may be required yearly. In Florida, the role must obtain a qualifier certification from the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for retail propane oversight; BJ’s covers applicable costs and training. The position leads assigned department operations and talent management, including hiring, onboarding, labor planning, scheduling, sales and inventory performance, Member experience standards, safety and compliance, and operational readiness. It uses reporting and club systems to identify opportunities and drive results, provides cross-functional support at the Club Manager’s discretion, and requires regular, predictable, full attendance. Compensation is estimated at $69,500.00–$86,750.00; actual pay may vary based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
