About The Position

The Assistant Beach Programs Manager supports implementation and daily operations of the Town of Hilton Head Island’s comprehensive beach programs. The role helps elevate the beach experience by coordinating program delivery, partnerships, field operations, safety, accessibility, and environmental stewardship. The position conducts inspections of beach facilities, serves as a field liaison during program execution, and identifies operational issues and corrective actions. The position may require a varied schedule and will remain open until filled.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver’s license.
May be required to work a varied schedule.

Responsibilities

Support implementation of programs designed to elevate the Hilton Head Island beach experience.
Establish and maintain partnerships with Town departments, contracted service providers, governmental agencies, environmental organizations, and volunteer groups.
Execute daily and seasonal beach program operations in accordance with Town policies and standards.
Monitor performance of lifeguard services, Beach Ambassadors, environmental programs, and contracted service providers.
Implement environmental stewardship activities.
Coordinate on-site responses to operational issues, safety concerns, and conditions requiring immediate attention.
Support the deployment and testing of safety technologies.
Monitor and support beach accessibility programs.
Ensure beach rules, safety messages, and program guidance are communicated consistently through signage, on-site materials, and public interaction.
Conduct field inspections of all beach facilities.
Serve as the primary field liaison to Town departments, contractors, partner agencies, and volunteer groups during program execution.
Participate in pre-season and post-season coordination meetings.
Identify recurring operational issues and recommend corrective actions.
