About The Position

Marriott Syracuse Downtown is seeking an On-Call Assistant Banquet Manager to assist the Banquet Manager in coordinating, supervising, training, and directing banquet personnel. The role helps ensure successful banquet events and consistently high service standards. The assistant manager also performs banquet server duties when needed, including event setup, guest greeting and service, and breakdown.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills and a self-starting personality with an even disposition.
• Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
• Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
• Experience in event management or catering.
• Supervisory experience and the ability to motivate a team to stay on task and exceed guest expectations.
• A commitment to teamwork and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Review server and houseperson banquet event orders for accuracy.
• Check room setups to ensure banquet event order instructions are followed and public areas are neat and clean.
• Contact group representatives and explain how to reach the team during the function.
• Verify staffing for the next day's functions and adjust schedules by adding or canceling servers, bartenders, or housepersons.
• Work as a banquet server when needed, including setting up, greeting and serving guests, and breaking down the function.
• Inspect banquet areas after functions to ensure equipment is returned to its proper area and spaces are clean.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Assist the Banquet Manager in coordinating, supervising, training, and directing banquet personnel.
