About The Position

The Asset Protection and Safety Lead is a Functional Lead on Carvana’s Safe and Secure Team, responsible for executing security and safety programs at its headquarters facilities. The role directly supervises Safe & Secure Associates who serve as the front-desk representatives to employees, vendors, and visitors. Responsibilities include managing their daily work, training and coaching them on procedures, and maintaining strong performance and customer service. The Lead represents Safe & Secure in interactions with internal and external partners, develops and maintains effective safety and security practices, and supports a workplace where associates and assets are protected. The role leads incident management and risk assessment at headquarters, oversees security technology and access-related processes, and ensures incidents are documented and reviewed for opportunities to improve. The position is onsite during business hours, which may occasionally exceed 40 hours per week, with occasional availability outside traditional business hours as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 3 years of experience in physical security operations and/or loss prevention.
At least 1 year of experience directly supervising or managing a team.
Demonstrated ability to coach team members to deliver consistent, high-quality customer service.
Experience working and communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders in a fast-changing, rapid-growth environment with tight deadlines.
Ability to take initiative in a constantly changing work environment while remaining flexible and collaborative.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to help create, develop, and implement process improvements.
Crisis management leadership experience.
Valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record, as determined by DMV requirements.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must pass a complete background check; the role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university, ideally in business, criminal justice, crisis management, or security operations.
Experience with project management software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

Responsibilities

Oversee the assigned team’s day-to-day activities, assess strengths and weaknesses, identify opportunities, and determine improvement steps.
Evaluate trends and outcomes and develop plans to accomplish team tasks and objectives.
Coach, develop, and manage team performance; provide feedback and demonstrate desired skills.

Communicate expectations, performance measures, goals, and other relevant information to team members and stakeholders.
Prevent and resolve conflicts among team members.
Monitor adherence to systems, policies, procedures, and performance standards.

Reinforce and monitor progress toward team goals.
Support leadership and participate in implementing team and department initiatives and strategies.
Escalate significant high-risk issues to senior-level management and provide recommendations to help keep teams safe and maintain business operations.
Monitor associate safety and develop solutions that meet local, state, and federal requirements.
Implement, execute, and directly lead the Incident Management program at headquarters locations.
Plan and lead the site Incident Management program, promote ongoing awareness and preparedness, and facilitate during emergency situations.
Lead processes involving Safe & Secure technology at headquarters, including equipment function, issue resolution, badge access, server-room controls, monitoring alerts, and overall program health.
Ensure incidents are properly recorded and system information is accurate and actionable; conduct after-action reviews to identify root causes and recommend improvements to the Manager, Corporate Security.
Implement and monitor visitor and vendor check-in processes and train and coach team members on them.
Implement and conduct risk assessments of headquarters facilities.
Work with Safe and Secure Operations Center leadership to provide support when business needs require.
Assign work and hold team members accountable for expectations and deliverables.
Ensure appropriate team staffing to meet relevant KPIs and goals.
Be available onsite during business hours, which may occasionally exceed 40 hours per week, and occasionally outside traditional business hours as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
