Armed Security Officer | Savannah, GA (Ongoing Hiring)
About The Position
Coastal Security Services, Inc. (CSSI) is continuously hiring Armed Security Officers for K-12 school campuses in the Savannah, Georgia area. Officers provide a safe, calm learning environment for students, faculty, and visitors on a weekday, school-calendar schedule. This is a standing posting for hiring across multiple area sites rather than one specific opening. Candidates who clear screening are placed when a post fits their license, location, and availability; cleared candidates not immediately placed remain on file for future openings. The assigned officer provides a visible, professional armed presence; manages campus access and visitor screening; monitors CCTV and alarm systems; conducts foot and vehicle patrols; coordinates with school personnel and local law enforcement; supports emergency drills and school safety protocols; and submits daily activity and incident reports through a mobile reporting system. The schedule is Monday through Friday during school hours, following the school calendar. Weekends and school holidays are typically off, though occasional after-hours campus events may occur. Pay is post-based: armed campus posts in the area start at $21 per hour, with higher rates at select sites. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate for hours over 40 in a work week.
Requirements
- Be 21 years of age or older.
- Be able to obtain a Georgia armed guard license, completed through CSSI before placement.
- Demonstrate proficiency with a handgun.
- Pass state and federal background checks, drug screening, and school district screening.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Demonstrate composure under pressure and clear verbal and written communication.
- Be able to stand, walk, and patrol for a full shift.
Nice To Haves
- Prior law enforcement, military, or armed security experience.
- School or campus security experience.
- Crisis intervention or de-escalation training.
- Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
Responsibilities
- Provide a visible, professional armed presence on the assigned campus.
- Control building and grounds access and screen visitors.
- Monitor CCTV and alarm systems.
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, perimeters, and parking areas.
- Coordinate with school administration, faculty, and local law enforcement.
- Support emergency drills and school safety protocols.
- Write accurate daily activity and incident reports in the mobile reporting system.
