About the position
The job overview for this role is to drive PhonePe acceptance at offline merchants across urban and rural markets in India. The Assistant Sales Manager (ASM) will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with merchants, DSAs, and sales executives. They will need to understand local merchant and customer needs and drive PhonePe transactions based on brand positioning and local requirements. The ASM will also be responsible for setting up and leading a team to achieve acquisition and quality targets.
Responsibilities
- Grow distribution and market share in the assigned area of operations
- Identify, interact, and develop DSAs to align and drive business in the market
- Synthesize inputs on local competition and formulate counter-strategies
- Analyze data and identify improvement areas for performance
- Benchmark and compare performance with territory to establish good practices
- Plan market size, span, and geographies for the team
- Communicate plans and targets effectively to minimize expectation vs delivery gap
- Gather right information through surveys and develop insights
- Handle merchant escalations and partner with internal stakeholders for resolution
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for market collaterals, headcount, onboarding experience, etc.
- Implement processes and metrics for tracking progress and setup review mechanisms
- Ensure accurate calculations and disbursement of payouts to and from DSAs
- Drive hiring of TSM, BDEs, and RTLs
Requirements
- Experience in driving business growth and increasing market share
- Ability to identify and develop DSAs (Direct Selling Agents) to drive business in the market
- Analytical skills to analyze data and identify improvement areas
- Knowledge of local competition and ability to formulate and launch counter-strategies
- Ability to benchmark and compare performance with territory to implement best practices
- Planning skills to determine market size, span, and geographies for the team
- Effective communication skills to ensure clear communication of plans and targets to the team
- Ability to gather and analyze data for surveys and insights
- Strong stakeholder management skills to handle merchant escalations and collaborate with internal teams
- Experience in implementing processes and metrics for tracking progress
- Knowledge of payout processes and ability to ensure accurate calculations and disbursement
- People management skills to drive hiring and manage the team effectively.
