About The Position

Pan Atlantic Foundation is seeking a South Bend Area Representative to facilitate the placement of international high school exchange students with welcoming host families, connect them with local schools, and integrate them into the community. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy building relationships, discovering community strengths, and helping young people create lasting memories. The position offers a flexible, part-time schedule and compensation based on successful student placements, with opportunities for international travel. The representative will serve South Bend and surrounding Michiana communities, including Mishawaka and Elkhart.

  • Willing to become involved in the local community.
  • Connections to local schools, youth organizations, sports programs, civic organizations, churches and faith communities, businesses, parent and family networks, community groups, or local events and activities are beneficial.
  • Must be willing to get out and start connecting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in education, recruiting, coaching, customer service, sales, youth programs, nonprofit work, community organizations, hospitality, counseling, family services, or community leadership.
  • Exchange program experience is not required but can be helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce local families to the opportunity to host an international exchange student.
  • Share the program through social media, community connections, and local events.
  • Respond to interested families and meet with prospective host families.
  • Explain the expectations and responsibilities of hosting.
  • Complete required host family interviews and approval steps.
  • Stay connected with host families throughout the exchange experience.
  • Establish relationships with local high schools and school personnel.
  • Identify schools open to international exchange students.
  • Communicate with school counselors and administrators.
  • Help coordinate school enrollment.
  • Build awareness of international exchange opportunities in the area.
  • Welcome students upon arrival and help them get connected.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and host families.
  • Complete required supervision visits and check-ins.
  • Encourage students to participate in school activities, clubs, sports, and community life.
  • Help address student and family questions or concerns.
  • Communicate significant concerns to Pan Atlantic Foundation (PAF) staff.
  • Help students and families navigate challenges during the international experience.
