About The Position

Pan Atlantic Foundation is seeking an Area Representative in Springfield, Illinois to help connect international high school students with welcoming American families, local schools, and supportive communities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, working with families, connecting with schools, and making a difference in the lives of young people. As an Area Representative, you will be the local face of Pan Atlantic Foundation—helping create successful exchange experiences while developing meaningful connections throughout the Springfield area. The Role at a Glance: You'll help manage the local side of the exchange experience, from finding and preparing host families to supporting students after they arrive.

  • Able to make phone calls and initiate conversations with prospective families and schools.

  • Able to represent Pan Atlantic Foundation in a positive and professional manner.
  • Pass required background screening and complete program training.

  • A background in international exchange is not necessary.
  • Experience may come from: Education, Coaching, Recruiting, Customer service, Sales, Youth programs, Community organizations, Counseling or social services, Hospitality, Nonprofit work, Family services, Volunteer leadership.
  • Candidates with connections to local schools, families, youth organizations, civic groups, businesses, churches, community organizations, or other local networks are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Promote international student hosting opportunities within the local community.
  • Respond to individuals and families interested in learning more about hosting.
  • Meet with prospective host families and explain program expectations.
  • Complete host family interviews and assist with the approval process.
  • Maintain regular communication with participating families.
  • Develop relationships with local high schools and school personnel.
  • Explore opportunities for international students to attend area schools.
  • Introduce the exchange program to appropriate community organizations and groups.
  • Build awareness of international exchange within the local community.
  • Welcome students and help them become comfortable in their new community.
  • Maintain regular communication with students throughout the exchange.
  • Conduct required supervision visits and monthly check-ins.
  • Help students identify opportunities to participate in sports, clubs, activities, and community events.
  • Serve as a local resource when students or families have questions or concerns.
  • Communicate significant issues to Pan Atlantic Foundation staff and assist with appropriate follow-up.
  • Complete required training and program documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of student and host family contacts.
  • Participate in occasional exchange-related events and activities.
  • Communicate consistently with the Pan Atlantic Foundation team.
