About The Position

General Parts is hiring an Apprentice Field Service Technician to repair and maintain commercial kitchen equipment at schools, healthcare facilities, and restaurants in the technician’s area. The role is intended for mechanically inclined individuals with experience or training in electrical work, HVAC/R, or similar trades. The technician receives hands-on training while shadowing a Lead Technician, with the goal of helping launch a career in the field. The position pays $20–$25 per hour, based on experience. Technicians are dispatched from home in a company vehicle and receive ongoing training and career advancement opportunities. The company provides a service vehicle, tools, tablet, cellphone, uniforms, and paid laundry. CFESA certification and ongoing training are provided. The role includes after-hours and weekend on-call rotations, with overtime pay on Saturdays and double-time pay on Sundays and holidays.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets the company’s safety standards.
Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of related experience, education, or military training are preferred.
EPA certification for refrigeration technicians.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial cooking, refrigeration, and HVAC equipment.
Provide service solutions for gas, electric, and steam systems.
Order and install replacement parts.
Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call rotations.
