The Application Analyst serves as the primary interface between Information Technology and assigned business areas. The role identifies business requirements, creates project and process specifications, coordinates with project teams, and helps ensure that work adheres to schedules, budgets, organizational standards, and Information Technology strategy. It evaluates whether existing solutions meet business needs or new solutions are required, contributes to buy-versus-build decisions, and supports the integration of solutions that affect work processes. The analyst gathers, validates, manages, and translates requirements into functional specifications, models, and process documentation. The role facilitates communication and agreements between business partners and Information Technology from initial requirements through implementation, and identifies opportunities to improve business processes and technology solutions. The position also provides reporting and analytical support, develops and maintains reports using SQL-driven application table portlets and Business Objects, conducts systems analysis and audits, supports system administration and maintenance, and analyzes system or application incidents. The analyst works across multiple projects, helps improve departmental processes and support practices, maintains stakeholder relationships, communicates technical concepts to nontechnical colleagues, and assists less experienced team members. Team members are expected to understand risks in their functional area and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Firm authority.
