About The Position

The Ophthalmology Assistant provides comprehensive patient care through specialized ophthalmic testing, triage, and patient teaching. The role performs basic and routine eye examination procedures to assist in diagnosing and treating eye diseases and problems, and explains diagnostic and treatment procedures to patients. The position works Monday through Friday on the day shift. The main location is Maywood, with travel to Burr Ridge, Hickory Hills, and Oakbrook Terrace as needed. Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent training acquired through work experience or education.
Ophthalmic Technician Program degree or training.
Less than one year of previous job-related experience is required.
Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in manual refraction and applanation tonometry.
Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
After graduation from an ophthalmic technician education course, staff in this position are required to become certified ophthalmic assistants within the first year of employment.
