About The Position
Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly department that encourages customers to return. Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards. The role involves assisting customers with product questions and suggestions, maintaining product knowledge, labeling and stocking merchandise, managing inventory and displays, and helping meet production deadlines. The clerk follows scheduled shift hours, applicable health and civil codes, company policies, merchandising standards, safety procedures, and controls related to customer service, cash, labor, expenses, supplies, and loss prevention. The role also includes promoting sales, identifying and reporting safety concerns or incidents, and inspecting equipment for maintenance needs. Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18.
- Ability to meet the minimum physical demands of the position.
- Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.

Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
- Maintain knowledge of department products and respond to customer questions or make product suggestions.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
- Observe scheduled shift operating hours.
- Adhere to local, state, and federal health and civil codes.
- Provide friendly customer service and maintain a clean, orderly department.
- Demonstrate creative merchandising.
- Keep displays fully stocked and conditioned according to department standards.
- Be aware of product arrival dates.
- Maintain workload to meet production deadlines.
- Use bulletins, announcements, and special programs to help create additional sales.
- Complete paperwork according to company policy.
- Follow current rules and standards for merchandising, customer service, cash control, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, and associate and customer engagement.
- Promote sales through intercom announcements.
- Comply with safety procedures, reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
- Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
