About the position
The job overview for this position is a technical animator/director responsible for building the future of facial animation at 2K Games. The ideal candidate will have experience with Maya, Unreal, Motion Builder, and other facial software, as well as a passion for improving efficiency and creating amazing tools and pipelines. They will work closely with the post-production team and other MoCap teams to improve the current process and create high-quality facial animations. The job requires 7+ years of experience in the industry, knowledge of MoCap tools, and experience with Unreal and Metahuman.
Responsibilities
- Build a pipeline for facial animation
- Build a facial team for post-processing and real-time
- Work with Dynamixyz
- Work with the development team to support facial expertise
- Provide a rigging solution per pipeline
- Assist other animators (training and debugging)
- Learn how the 2K Mocap pipeline works
- Be able to work with any software using best practices
- Work with the MoCap team to prototype new useful features/tools and processes
- Be able to create high-quality facial animations
- Work with the post-production team on other pipeline tasks such as MoCap data processing, solving, quality assurance, facial capture video editing, virtual camera animation, etc.
- Daily communication with the production director and production team
- Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in the industry
- Experience with pipelines/rigging for facial animation
- Extensive experience in motion solving and editing for facial animation
- Experience with Unreal and Metahuman
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
- Highly motivated and proactive
- Positive attitude towards challenges
- Good technical communication skills
- Education in 3D animation, motion capture, or film
- Proficiency in Maya and Motion Builder as well as various facial packages
- In-depth knowledge of MoCap tools
- Knowledge of scripting/code systems such as Python, Mel, C++, etc.
- Experience in developing animation and MoCap tools is a plus
- Knowledge of resolution pipelines
- Experience with hardware (MoCap, scan, VR, camera references, etc.)
