About The Position

Arc Experience is hiring a part-time Program Leader for its after-school program at the Allied Gardens school site in San Diego, California. Program Leaders work directly with students, supporting social-emotional learning, homework, enrichment activities, and recreation. The role focuses on making learning engaging, encouraging students’ confidence and participation, and creating a safe and welcoming environment.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience working in after-school programs or youth recreation, especially in ethnically and culturally diverse communities.
• Good communication skills and comfort communicating with both children and parents.
• College transcripts showing at least 48 completed college credit units, or passing an academic proficiency exam.
• Obtain a TB test and provide proof of a negative result.
• Pass a Live Scan background check.
• Reliably commute to the job location before starting work.
• Provide documentation of full COVID-19 vaccination if required by the school where the employee works.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome students when they arrive at the program after school.
• Organize and lead homework help, recreation games, arts and crafts, and educational projects.
• Participate in indoor and outdoor enrichment activities.
• Create unique clubs for students, such as career readiness, cooking, anime, or dance clubs.
• Follow safety protocols, monitor student behavior, and manage group dynamics.
• Oversee students’ safety and well-being during after-school activities.
• Encourage participation and enthusiasm, adapting activities to students’ diverse needs and interests.
