Advance Technicians support Sparklight customers by completing installations, repairing equipment, and troubleshooting telecommunications systems. They maintain service quality across Headend, HFC, fiber optic networks, and Home Terminal Units; support local plant and customer-owned equipment; and use electronic test equipment to diagnose and resolve issues. The role also involves interpreting network design maps, verifying and updating as-built documentation, splicing and terminating coaxial and fiber optic cables, installing and activating plant devices, surveying proposed service locations, locating underground facilities, maintaining cable plant, and monitoring for signal leakage. Technicians may also train system technical personnel as directed by local management. The position requires a variable schedule and response to service interruptions during business hours, shift work, or on-call periods. Overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required. Candidates must complete Sparklight’s Advanced Technician course within six months of accepting the position. Employment offers are contingent on background, drug, and reference checks; DOT-regulated positions have additional testing and qualification requirements.
