About The Position

This position is for an Adjunct Instructor in the English Department to teach ENGL 293: American Literary History as an Independent Study course at the university level. The role involves providing feedback on student work, grading assignments, fostering a positive online learning environment, and utilizing technology effectively. The instructor may also be assigned curriculum development tasks. The position requires the successful candidate to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.

Requirements

• PhD in English, Literature, American Studies or related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
• College-level literature course instruction.
• Minimum two semesters teaching experience.
• Organized and careful about time management.
• Proficiency in using technology and learning management systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
• All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
• All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
• Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work.
• Grade assignments within 7 days.
• Foster a positive and inclusive online learning environment that encourages student participation.
• May receive additional assignments/contracts for curriculum development for the same or similar course.
