About The Position

This position involves providing instruction in assigned subject areas, utilizing various instructional strategies suitable for classroom, online, hybrid, or lab settings. The instructor will be responsible for student evaluation and recordkeeping, including preparing and administering evaluations and maintaining accurate student records. Additionally, the role requires staying current in subject areas through professional development and managing classroom policies, grading structures, and strategies. The instructor will also use computers as an instructional tool and assist with administrative tasks related to course materials and scheduling. A key aspect of the role is promoting a culture of belonging, fostering an environment where all students, faculty, and staff feel welcomed, valued, and empowered, and supporting the college's policies on access, fair employment, and equal opportunities.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree with at least 18 hours of graduate credit in English.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in English PLUS a minimum of 6 graduate credits in English and an approved plan to complete a Master’s degree within 2 years that includes 18 graduate credits in the subject area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction to students according to the objectives of each course assigned.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to individual student needs.
  • Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain accurate student records.
  • Assist in gathering and interpreting data for department assessment.
  • Increase and improve personal teaching and subject knowledge through professional development.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain classroom policies, grading structures, and strategies.
  • Use the computer as an instructional tool for teaching reading and writing skills and composition.
  • Provide information and data for supply and equipment orders, course schedules, book orders, and other reports.
  • Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered.
  • Foster a community where each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment.
  • Support the College’s policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all.
