About The Position

Slate is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Analyst to handle daily transactional work across reservation deposits, vehicle sales, and merchandise. Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Manager, the role applies cash, processes refunds, clears exceptions, reconciles accounts, and supports timely AR close in a fast-moving, growing startup environment. The analyst supports cash application and daily operations, AR close and reconciliations, controls and documentation, and system and cross-functional support. The role requires hands-on processing, investigation and resolution of account breaks, documentation of work, and escalation of unresolved matters to the AR Manager. Slate describes its culture as focused on grit, determination, attention to detail, ingenuity, resourcefulness, excellence, innovation, and mutual respect.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of accounts receivable, cash application, or accounting operations experience in a high-transaction-volume environment.
  • Strong AR fundamentals, including cash application, customer deposit accounting, AR close, reconciliations, aging analysis, and exception management.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP AR or a comparable ERP.
  • Strong organization and follow-through in clearing breaks, documenting resolutions, and preventing exceptions from aging.
  • Clear, concise communication skills, including the ability to explain AR discrepancies to non-finance colleagues and walk reviewers through reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including comfort with pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, scrappy environment, processing transactions, clearing exceptions, and documenting procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with a payment processor such as Adyen or Stripe.
  • Exposure to SOX control environments or a pre-IPO company.

Responsibilities

  • Apply daily cash across reservation deposits, vehicle balance payments, and merchandise sales, matching payments to customers and orders in SAP.
  • Process refunds, chargebacks, and cancellations accurately and on time, and convert deposits in SAP as customers move from reservation to delivery.
  • Research and clear unapplied cash daily, escalating items that cannot be resolved within the established aging threshold.
  • Research and correct customer AR balance discrepancies with customers, payment processors, and internal teams.
  • Monitor the invoicing pipeline for integration breaks between the order management system, payment processors, and SAP; log and work breaks with system owners and escalate unresolved breaks to the AR Manager.
  • Run AR aging reports on a set cadence, identify overdue and at-risk balances, contact customers, document touchpoints and outcomes, and escalate unresponsive accounts or matters requiring commercial judgment.
  • Help clear backlogs across refunds, processor settlements, and customer invoice corrections as needed.
  • Prepare daily and monthly AR reconciliations across payment processors, auto financing partners, and bank accounts; resolve and document breaks.
  • Complete assigned AR month-end close tasks, including customer deposit liability schedules, AR aging analysis, and processor and lender receivable reconciliations, in accordance with the close calendar.
  • Compile AR close inputs in accordance with Slate's Cash Policy and Customer Deposits Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Compile monthly AR metrics, including Days Sales Outstanding, unapplied cash aging, and exception counts, and provide them to the AR Manager for review.
  • Prepare and submit manual journal entries supporting AR close, with appropriate support and routing for manager approval under Slate's Delegation of Authority.
  • Prepare and maintain reconciliation workpapers, control evidence, and process narratives for Slate's SOX-readiness program.
  • Complete reviewer sign-off checklists, retain evidence in line with AR control requirements, and flag control gaps or exceptions to the AR Manager.
  • Write and update step-by-step desk procedures for assigned tasks.
  • Execute user acceptance test scripts for system changes affecting customer payments, customer balances, or the AR sub-ledger; document results and log defects.
  • Submit and follow up on support tickets with payment processors, financing partners, and SaaS providers, escalating to the AR Manager when service-level agreements are at risk.
  • Test new payment methods, sales channels, and pricing updates in the AR sub-ledger before launch and report issues to the AR Manager.
  • Provide transaction-level details, reconciliations, and AR data to Treasury, Accounting, and Digital teammates for order-to-cash and bank-to-book work.
