About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Competency in computer skills in a Windows-based environment, including the ability to use specialized computer applications as needed.
• Access to transportation in the Agency service area.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.
• Automotive insurance.
• Driver’s license.
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting certification, with renewal.
• Act 33 clearance, with renewal.
• Act 34 clearance, with renewal.
• Act 73 FBI clearance, with renewal.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of two years of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform anthropometric measurements and hemoglobin testing for WIC participants.
• Assess whether participants need a WIC breast pump, and issue pumps with instruction on their use and cleaning.
• Assess and determine participants’ nutritional risk for WIC and prescribe appropriate food packages.
• Develop nutrition care plans for high-risk participants.
• Provide initial certification and recertification of participants.
• Provide nutrition education and counseling to WIC participants.
• Assist families in developing healthy eating goals and provide ongoing education to support those goals.
• Provide breastfeeding education and support to WIC families.
• Develop and implement the nutrition education component, including continuing updates as necessary to meet federal regulations.
• Provide in-service training for WIC staff.
• Prepare and submit required reports.
• Assist in planning and developing goals, objectives, and activities for the WIC program.
• Enter data using the Department of Health QuickWIC Data System.
• Maintain participant records in accordance with Agency and Department of Health policies and procedures.
• Complete online documentation of nutrition education contacts, topics, and comments.
• Provide outreach and educational programs to community agencies and interested groups to increase WIC enrollment.
• Provide information and referrals to other health and human services programs as indicated by participant needs.
• Represent and participate in Agency professional and community activities as requested.
• Provide supervision at designated satellite clinic sites.
• Print and issue food instruments in accordance with policies and state and federal regulations.
• Demonstrate support for the Agency mission and philosophy in service delivery.
• Endeavor to achieve and maintain quality and customer satisfaction for internal and external customers.
• Maintain and protect participant and Agency confidentiality.
• Promote personal and co-worker safety during work duties.
• Participate in orientation and performance improvement activities.
