About The Position
BETA Technologies is seeking an aviation technical illustrator with aerospace industry experience to create technical illustrations for maintenance, flight, and other manuals. The role works collaboratively with technical writers and subject matter experts, including mechanics, pilots, engineers, and commercial and government operations personnel, to define illustration needs and incorporate illustrations into structured authoring applications. The illustrator uses engineering CAD data to create clear, simple illustrations for manuals, training materials, manufacturing work instructions, sales sheets, and other content. The role also supports document reviews, tracks illustration and document workflows using collaboration tools, and meets project deadlines. The position is part of BETA Technologies’ mission to revolutionize electric aviation and its inclusive, sustainability-focused culture. The work environment may include office work with standard equipment, travel by air or automobile, and—depending on the role—indoor or outdoor conditions, physical movement, exposure to noise or hazardous substances, and varying shifts and hours. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. Compensation is listed at $100,000–$110,000 USD. The total compensation package includes restricted stock units and performance stock units for full-time team members, as well as healthcare and other benefits.
Requirements
- Technical illustration experience, including work to S1000D standards.
- Experience with CATIA V5 (CATIA V6 is a plus), CATIA Composer or similar modeling software, and PTC IsoDraw.
- Close attention to detail and a customer-focused understanding of end-item configuration.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to keep learning and adapting, and ability to identify and solve roadblocks.
- Bachelor's degree; an engineering or aerospace-related field is a plus.
Nice To Haves
- Hands-on experience with CATIA V6.
- Experience on projects subject to approval by aviation regulatory authorities such as the FAA, EASA, or Transport Canada.
- DoD or military aviation technical illustration experience.
- Experience with collaboration tools such as Microsoft SharePoint, Slack, or Confluence/Jira.
- Experience in a fast-moving startup.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
