About The Position
Canal Barge LLC is seeking a Shore Tankerman in the Port Arthur/Beaumont area. Shore Tankermen are internal experts in the transfer of liquid cargo. Qualified candidates must be safety-conscious and able to work in a physically demanding environment. The position requires being on call and traveling independently. Applicants must have favorable work references and a valid driver's license, and must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen. Tankermen must hold a U.S. Merchant Mariner's endorsement as a PIC/DL and possess a current, valid TWIC I. Physical requirements include climbing ladders and stairs, repetitive bending and stooping, and lifting heavy marine equipment and objects weighing 10–100 pounds from various levels.
Requirements
- Minimum 5–10 years of Shore Tankerman experience / 2nd Issue of License.
- Valid driver's license.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass a physical that includes a respirator fit test; candidates must be clean-shaven.
- Must hold a U.S. Merchant Mariner's endorsement as a PIC/DL.
- Must possess a current, valid TWIC I.
- Must have favorable work references.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be safety-conscious and able to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Must be on call and able to travel independently.

Responsibilities
- Conduct transfers of liquid cargo.
- Follow safety, environmental, and barge processes to conduct incident-free transfers.
- Inspect barges before conducting transfers.
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs of barges and pumps as necessary.
- Inspect safety and transfer equipment.
- Serve as a liaison with customer dock personnel.
- Serve as a first-line emergency responder.
