About The Position

Canal Barge LLC is hiring a Shore Tankerman to transfer liquid cargos in the Port Arthur/Beaumont area. Shore Tankermen are internal experts in liquid-cargo transfers and must be safety conscious, able to work in a physically demanding environment, available on call, and able to travel independently. Candidates must have favorable work references, a valid driver’s license, and pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen. They must hold a U.S. Merchant Mariner’s endorsement as a PIC/DL and possess a current, valid TWIC.

The position involves conducting and supporting incident-free transfers, inspecting barges and transfer equipment, performing minor maintenance and repairs, coordinating with customer dock personnel, and serving as a first-line emergency responder. Physical requirements include climbing ladders and stairs, repetitive bending and stooping, and lifting marine equipment and objects weighing 10–100 pounds from various levels.

Requirements

• Minimum 5–10 years of Shore Tankerman experience / 2nd Issue of License.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to pass a physical examination, including a respirator fit test; candidates must be clean shaven.
• Heater/Boiler experience.
• U.S. Merchant Mariner’s endorsement as a PIC/DL.
• Current, valid TWIC.
• Favorable work references.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Must be on call and able to travel independently.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct transfers of liquid cargos.
• Follow safety, environmental, and barge processes to conduct incident-free transfers.
• Inspect barges before conducting transfers.
• Perform minor maintenance and repair of barges and pumps as necessary.
• Inspect safety and transfer equipment.
• Serve as a liaison with customer dock personnel.
• Serve as a first-line emergency responder.
