About The Position
The Town of Orangeville’s Community Services Department is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Swim Instructor/Lifeguards. This is a part-time position, commencing in September 2026. The hours of work are a maximum of twenty-four (24) hours per week.
Requirements
- Some secondary school education
- Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard (Pool option)
- Current Lifesaving Swim Instructors
- Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C & AED from an accredited organization
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of age
- Knowledge of Aquatic provincial legislation and health and safety legislation.
Nice To Haves
- Lifesaving Society Instructor is considered an asset.
- Lifesaving Society Examiner at Bronze Cross level or higher is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Instructing aquatic programs and performing lifeguard services; enforcing pool facility policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Maintaining records pertaining to lesson plans and report cards; ensuring the pool deck area is safe for all users and that emergency first aid equipment is in its place.
- Maintaining the deck, pool equipment and change rooms; installing buoy lines and other equipment as required.
- Ensuring equipment is available when lifeguarding; participating in staff training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Benefits
- Hourly Range: $20.18 to $23.61, Band 2 on the Town’s 2026 Pay Grid
