About The Position

The Town of Orangeville’s Community Services Department is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Swim Instructor/Lifeguards. This is a part-time position, commencing in September 2026. The hours of work are a maximum of twenty-four (24) hours per week.

Requirements

  • Some secondary school education
  • Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard (Pool option)
  • Current Lifesaving Swim Instructors
  • Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C & AED from an accredited organization
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of age
  • Knowledge of Aquatic provincial legislation and health and safety legislation.

Nice To Haves

  • Lifesaving Society Instructor is considered an asset.
  • Lifesaving Society Examiner at Bronze Cross level or higher is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Instructing aquatic programs and performing lifeguard services; enforcing pool facility policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Maintaining records pertaining to lesson plans and report cards; ensuring the pool deck area is safe for all users and that emergency first aid equipment is in its place.
  • Maintaining the deck, pool equipment and change rooms; installing buoy lines and other equipment as required.
  • Ensuring equipment is available when lifeguarding; participating in staff training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Hourly Range: $20.18 to $23.61, Band 2 on the Town’s 2026 Pay Grid
