About The Position

The division includes complementary programs that primarily serve children and youth to improve their health and well-being.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the agency, institution goals and treatment programs
  • Working knowledge of available referral resources
  • Considerable knowledge of the application of professional speech and language pathology theory, techniques, principles, and procedures
  • Considerable knowledge of the work unit and the unit policies and procedures
  • Considerable knowledge of various communicative disorders peculiar to the group of clients served
  • Ability to administer and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests to determine range, nature and/or degree of communication skills.
  • Ability to formulate, interpret, and implement therapeutic treatment programs applicable to client group served
  • Ability to express oneself in oral and written form and to maintain client records and charts
  • Ability to gain the confidence of clients, clients' families, peers, and paraprofessionals and to work effectively with them to gain cooperation for optimum results.
  • Licensed by the Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and participate in Individualized Family Service Plan development with families and Early Intervention Service Coordinators and provide written progress reports.
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate instruction designed to meet the unique needs of each child and family in the natural environment. (i.e. in the child’s home, childcare, community setting, etc.)
  • Administer and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests to determine range, nature and/or degree of communication skills.
  • Formulate, interpret, and implement therapeutic treatment programs applicable to client group served
  • Express oneself in oral and written form and to maintain client records and charts
  • Gain the confidence of clients, clients' families, peers, and paraprofessionals and to work effectively with them to gain cooperation for optimum results.
