About The Position

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience as a storyboard artist and/or director.
• Relevant drawing experience, with strong figurative and perspective draftsmanship.
• Ability to draw characters on model and in three-dimensional settings and create cleaned-up storyboards with attention to clarity and entertainment value.
• Adept staging, cinematography, and composition skills using drawing and software.
• Advanced knowledge of Cintiq, Toon Boom Storyboard Pro, and Photoshop.
• Proficiency in timing, screen direction, continuity, and the language of cinema.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write clear and specific direction on storyboards if requested.
• Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to provide status updates, troubleshoot, and review potential changes regularly with production staff.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Blender 3D.

Responsibilities

• Create storyboard sequences from thumbnail through rough and clean finish, implementing storytelling objectives set out by the script or outline and Director.
• Ensure storyboards align with creative leadership’s goals and consistently adhere to the vision, style, and storytelling objectives of the shows and intellectual properties.
• Collaborate with the Director on storytelling direction, design requirements, and expected polish for each episode.
• Collaborate with creative leadership and production to review storyboard goals and vision and discuss concerns, timelines, and complexity within schedule parameters.
• Meet regularly with the Supervisor, Director, Producer, Editor, and fellow Storyboard Artists to review, discuss, execute, and revise storyboards.
• Pitch storyboards to the Supervisor, Director, crew, executives, and stakeholders; receive feedback and implement notes.
• Attend and contribute to script meetings and pitches when requested, offering feedback from a storyboarding perspective.
• Follow production guidelines for document management and delivery.
• When tasked, use directors’ or fellow board artists’ thumbnails to create final boards by assigned deadlines.
• Provide status updates, troubleshoot, and review potential changes regularly with production staff.
