About The Position

Requirements

• Meet the Barely Acceptable level on the Ability to supervise screen-out element.
• Meet the Barely Acceptable level on the Aptitude for work with prisoners screen-out element.
• Receive at least one half of the total possible points in the assessment.
• Provide detailed resume information supporting the assessment responses and demonstrating relevant skills and experience.
• Be a U.S. citizen.
• Satisfactorily complete pre-employment and panel interviews, urinalysis, a physical examination, and a background investigation.
• Pass screening requirements related to the National Crime Information Center and credit check.
• If not currently working in an institution, complete the qualification inquiry concerning misdemeanor domestic-violence convictions required for firearm authorization.
• Successfully complete the three-week Introduction to Correctional Techniques course in Glynco, Georgia.
• Meet applicable maximum-entry-age rules for original appointments to Bureau of Prisons institutions, or provide documentation of qualifying prior federal law-enforcement coverage or veteran eligibility for an exemption.

Responsibilities

• Train, motivate, and direct an inmate work crew in sheet metal operations, including shearing, stamping, piercing, notching, layout, benching, forming, assembling, welding, and packing.
• Maintain the security of the correctional institution as a regular and recurring responsibility.
• Perform correctional responsibilities before other duties required by the position.
