About The Position

The Principal Technology & Security Financial Analyst leads financial planning and analysis for the Data Artificial Intelligence & Security (DAIS) organization. The role covers monthly variance analysis, forecasting, reporting, and annual capital and expense planning, applying research and issue-resolution skills to support decision-making. The analyst presents financial information and findings to senior leaders and regulatory stakeholders and influences decisions through clear communication. The position partners with departments across Technology & Security, including Cybersecurity, Corporate Security, Data & Analytics, and AI. This is a hybrid role requiring work from a remote office and in person at the Oakland General Office 1–2 days per week, or as business needs or company requirements dictate. The analyst applies Lean principles, supports organizational change, builds financial models and business cases, resolves complex analytical and reporting issues, and provides financial testimony and work papers for regulatory proceedings. Leadership experience guiding teams, projects, and cross-functional partners is preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 8 years of accounting, financial, or business-related experience, including advanced analytical experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership on highly complex projects or multiple concurrent projects of moderate to high complexity.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot is expected.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience, including leading or mentoring analysts and teams, driving cross-functional initiatives, and influencing senior leaders to make sound financial decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or data visualization tools such as Power BI or similar software.
  • 10 years of related experience.
  • Utility or consulting experience.
  • MBA or another advanced degree in finance, business, or accounting.
  • Professional certification such as a CPA or CMA.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior management on strategic planning and decision-making, applying Lean principles across DAIS departments.
  • Drive organizational change and champion company Lean initiatives, applying PG&E’s 5 Plays: Visual Management, Operating Reviews, Problem Solving, Standard Work, and Waste Elimination.
  • Produce monthly reporting and analysis, including financial dashboard metrics, financial performance, headcount, and ad hoc financial requests.
  • Use existing financial models and develop new models for analysis and reporting.
  • Provide recommendations to senior management and extended leadership supported by analysis.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with functional areas and business partners.
  • Contribute to business cases for complex, cross-functional Technology & Security projects and initiatives.
  • Analyze complex end-to-end business processes and information needs across functional areas and, when applicable, external entities.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of client organizations’ current and future business environments to anticipate, identify, and meet their needs.
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of reporting issues and complex analytical requests.
  • Apply deep subject-matter expertise to develop strategy and resolve complex issues as a thought leader.
  • Prepare and support financial testimony, work papers, and related materials for regulatory proceedings.
