About The Position

Full-time, salary exempt position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company and government regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, ability to conduct safety training at all levels, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety with in the plant.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 year college degree, 4 year degree in a Safety/Environmental or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in safety management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, manuals, regulations, and codes.
  • Ability to write business reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees and outside officials to the company.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides and Gmail).
  • Working knowledge of product layouts and production specifications.
  • Working knowledge of product quality specifications.
  • Working knowledge of quality standards.
  • May be required to maintain a current 10 Hour OSHA Course (Minimum).

Nice To Haves

  • 4 year degree in a Safety/Environmental or related field is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee company-wide safety programs.
  • Lead safety inspections, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. Including: Valve Inspection, Sprinkler/Fire Hydrant System, Emergency Lighting, Fire Extinguisher program, AED inspection, Eye wash stations and SDS program.
  • Conduct safety training for new hires and ensure ongoing training for all employees.
  • Lead specialized programs, such as: Hearing Conservation, Haz-Com, LOTO, Blood Borne Pantheons, Forklift Safety, Safety footwear, and First Responder Training.
  • Provide training and resources to employees on safety practices, emergency preparedness, and compliance requirements.
  • Report and investigate safety incidents.
  • Involve appropriate personnel and maintain thorough documentation.
  • Follow up with corrective action.
  • Develop and manage an incident response plan.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation, reports, and records as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Report and Manage OSHA 300, 300A, 301 documentation.
  • Complete first response reporting to Corporate Workers Comp.
  • Assist in filing workers compensation claims, manage light duty program, and provide first aid care when appropriate.
  • Oversee fire protection systems, conduct inspections, and provide necessary training.
  • Maintain Pest Control Program records.
  • Serve as the liaison between the site and corporate for policy updates, safety issues, and environmental compliance.
  • Communicate with government agencies as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
