About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) who will work full-time, with shifts from 3pm-11pm, specifically 2:45pm-11:15pm. The role also requires working every other holiday and weekends as scheduled. The RN is expected to be a role model, demonstrating creativity, positivity, enthusiasm, confidentiality, teamwork, problem-solving, and interactivity. They will lead by setting high standards, promoting a positive work community, and shaping staff into future leaders through training, education, evaluation, and guidance. Effective communication, both verbal and written, is crucial for interacting with staff, physicians, residents, and guests, as well as for documenting policies, procedures, medical information, and care plans. The RN will assess the quality of resident care through rounds, chart reviews, and inspection tours, and must possess knowledge of and ability to implement state and federal regulations. Management and supervision of nursing operations include scheduling, evaluating, counseling, and commending employees, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards. The role involves supervising and supporting nursing staff, including N.A. trainees in the clinical setting, and promoting resident care as defined in individual care plans. Participation in the development and implementation of clinical and administrative policies and performance standards is expected. Continuous learning is encouraged through attending meetings, seminars, conferences, workshops, and higher education courses, as well as reading professional journals. In the absence of department heads and administrators, the RN may need to manage or make decisions concerning other departments and their employees. The position requires recognizing and actively participating in the organization's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts, including attending trainings, carrying out assigned roles and responsibilities, following established policies, sharing ideas for improvement, communicating outcomes or barriers, and supporting QAPI initiatives through actions and attitude. Additionally, the RN must understand and promote Trauma Informed Care by fostering a culture of safety, empowerment, and healing, recognizing potential past trauma in individuals, and protecting survivors from re-traumatization. Participation in annual compliance and ethics training, adherence to the code of conduct, and reporting of concerns are also essential.

Requirements

  • Registered professional nurse, who is licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Educated in rehabilitative and restorative nursing techniques.
  • Professional with integrity, an achiever, and a leader.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, OBRA, and state nursing home regulations preferred.
  • Computer care plan and scheduling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Presents self as a role model to achieve the mission of Rest Haven-York.
  • Leads – Sets high and positive standards for staff.
  • Communicates effectively in both verbal (staff, physician, resident, and guests) and written prose (policy, procedure, Medicare/medical assistance form, chart, care plan, cardex, etc…)
  • Assesses quality of resident care-makes rounds, performs chart review, and conducts inspection tours.
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and implement state and federal regulations.
  • Manages and supervises the nursing operation for the nursing service to include scheduling, evaluating, counseling, and commending employees.
  • Ensures compliance with all established regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Provides supervision, support, consultation, and evaluation to nursing staff, supervises N.A. trainees in the clinical setting.
  • Follows and promotes resident care as defined in the plan of care for each resident.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of clinical and administrative policies and standards of performance.
  • Remains current in field by attending meetings, seminars, inservices, conferences, workshops, and/or higher education courses and by reading professional journals, newsletters, and bulletins.
  • When sole RN in building and department heads & administrators are not here, will need to manage or make decisions concerning other departments, their employees, and issues normally handled by others.
  • Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts of your organization.
  • Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
  • Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
  • Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization.
  • Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
  • Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude).
  • Recognize your role for Trauma Informed Care: Promotes a culture of safety, empowerment and healing; recognizes that everyone who interacts at Rest Haven may have past traumatic experience and protects trauma survivors from being re-traumatized.
  • Recognize your role for Compliance and Ethics: Participates in annual compliance and ethics training. Follows code of conduct reporting any compliance and ethics concerns.
