About The Position

Requirements

• Master’s degree with a major in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, guidance and counseling, special education, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or physical therapy.
• For Rehabilitation Counselor 9: no specific type or amount of experience is required.
• For Rehabilitation Counselor 10: one year of professional experience providing rehabilitation counseling services equivalent to a Rehabilitation Counselor 9.
• For Rehabilitation Counselor P11: two years of professional experience providing rehabilitation counseling services equivalent to a Rehabilitation Counselor, including one year equivalent to a Rehabilitation Counselor 10; or three years of professional experience providing rehabilitation services coordination equivalent to a Rehabilitation Services Coordinator, including one year equivalent to a Rehabilitation Services Coordinator P11.
• Submit a cover letter describing relevant strengths and work experience.
• Submit a detailed resume listing employment dates by month and year and hours worked per week.
• Submit official college or university transcripts.
• Applicants with degrees from foreign colleges or universities must provide an evaluation or conversion to U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree is recognized by CHEA.
• Newly hired state employees must pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Employees must disclose personal and financial interests that may conflict with official duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide vocational rehabilitation guidance and counseling services to individuals with disabilities.
• Provide consultation and training services to business customers.
• Provide or coordinate services that may include physical restoration, training, education, accommodations, retention, and placement.
• Inform community partners and the general public about vocational rehabilitation services.
• Develop and maintain relationships with businesses within an assigned geographic or program area.
• Use labor market information and effective placement strategies.
• Use resources to help customers obtain and maintain employment while providing high-quality services to businesses.
• Assess customer information to determine eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services.
• Develop and implement individualized plans for employment.
