About The Position

Requirements

• Proficiency in basic written and spoken English.
• Graduation from an appropriately accredited school of professional nursing, or qualifying nursing education as described in the announcement.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted registered nurse license in a U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. A Graduate Nurse Technician appointment may be available to eligible candidates actively pursuing licensure.
• Meet the education and experience requirements for the applicable Nurse grade and level. Requirements vary by grade and may include an ADN or nursing diploma, BSN, MSN, doctoral degree, and specified professional or specialized nursing experience.
• U.S. citizenship, except that non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited in accordance with VA policy.
• Selected applicants for testing-designated positions must complete urinalysis screening for illegal drug use; refusal results in denial of employment.
• Registration with Selective Service is required for males born after December 31, 1959.
• Subject to background and security investigation.
• Complete the online onboarding process and provide acceptable identification for pre-employment requirements.
• Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required for VA healthcare personnel.
• May be required to serve a probationary period and complete all application requirements in the announcement's Required Documents section.
• Meet annual Employee Health requirements, such as TB screening or testing.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver technically competent care to patients in the home setting in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice.
• Be accountable for individual nursing practice and determine appropriate delegation of tasks, ensuring delegated tasks are completed by team members.
• Manage nursing care, organize and complete assigned work safely and promptly, and assist team members as needed.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary care.
• Document care in the medical record consistently, accurately, concisely, and promptly; evaluate and document patient responses to interventions and progress toward goals and expected outcomes.
