Maintenance Controls PLC Technician

About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Controls PLC Technician to join our team. The Controls PLC Technician will be responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC systems used in our manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Control PLC Technician or similar role in an industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain PLC’s, Servos, VFD’s, motors, HMI’s, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70/ 70 E and machine safety circuits/interlocks
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems (e.g., HMI, SCADA), power (480v down to control voltage) and electrical schematics.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • A technical certification or associate degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PLC brands such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Omron.
  • Strong understanding of electrical control theory or motors, Servo drives, control circuits, etc.
  • Understanding of food manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GMP).
  • Previous experience with electrical projects similar to electrician work.
  • Understanding of discrete, analog, and motion control systems
  • RCA of intermittent or complex faults
  • Ability to identify design deficiencies or operational issues and improve the system by adding or changing control
  • Experience working with safety-related controls (interlocks, E-stops, safety relays/PLC)

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems.
  • Program PLCs to ensure efficient and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize processes and improve efficiency.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of control systems.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
  • Execute electrical projects involving wiring, circuit installations, and upgrades.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities, including updating manuals and schematics.
  • Assist in training production staff on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
