About The Position

Volk is seeking a Lens Technician to support its ophthalmic diagnostic and surgical lens production. The role operates assigned production equipment, inspects finished products, and follows company procedures and quality regulations to meet customer and regulatory requirements. The technician also works with engineering and other support teams to troubleshoot and resolve assembly problems, and may assist with employee training at the supervisor’s discretion.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or a minimum of one year of experience as a medical device assembler, technician, or operator; the experience qualification is described as preferred.
• Ability to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, including Manufacturing Assembly Instructions, quality standards, and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ability to complete simple writing tasks, such as recording log entries, lot numbers, and dates.
• Ability to perform arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience as a medical device assembler, technician, or operator.

Responsibilities

• Start up, operate, and shut down assigned production equipment; operate a slit lamp for lens inspection.
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality measures and standards.
• Follow employee guidelines, Quality Systems Regulations, Volk practices and policies, and Standard Operating Procedures to meet customer requirements and applicable FDA or equivalent regulations.
• Read and follow job sheets, production drawings, and Manufacturing Assembly Instructions (MAIs).
• Work with internal and external engineering and other support disciplines on troubleshooting, data collection, and resolution of assembly problems.
• Assist with training employees at the supervisor’s discretion.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
