About The Position

Requirements

• Certificate or degree from an accredited phlebotomy training program.
• Required Certification – ASCP, HHS, or American Medical Certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Effective communication in English (spoken and written).
• Proficient in data entry and using electronic medical records.
• High attention to detail in specimen collection and documentation.
• Knowledge of lab safety standards and infection control practices.
• Able to handle different patient populations with professionalism and care.
• Must meet WRNMMC immunization requirements due to patient exposure.
• Must pass a federal background check and credentialing process.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to WRNMMC standing orders and medical protocols.
• Support lab operations with professional, accurate, and ethical phlebotomy practices.
• Participate in meetings and improvement initiatives when assigned.
• Identify patients and label all specimens accurately.
• Perform venipunctures using age-appropriate and condition-specific techniques.
• Maintain strict sanitary standards to prevent contamination or disease transmission.
• Ensure specimens are properly handled, prepared, and routed for laboratory analysis.
• Input and update patient records in the medical record system.
• Follow all MTF and JC regulations related to specimen collection and documentation.
• Complete required orientation and competency programs.
• Participate in clinical or administrative meetings as needed, contributing to process improvement.
