About The Position

Requirements

• Active pharmacist license in the state where the store is located.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Must not be on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
• Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require.
• Ability to concentrate, shift quickly between tasks, and confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
• Ability to provide friendly customer service, understand patient reactions, and respond appropriately.
• Verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients and colleagues; ability to listen actively and understand detailed spoken information.
• Ability to use mathematics to determine quantities, days’ supply, and bottle counts when filling prescriptions.
• Ability to identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and select an appropriate course of action.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including remaining upright for extended periods; lifting, scanning, and bagging items; reaching, repetitive finger movements, and stooping; close visual work; and lifting or exerting force up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.

• 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.

Responsibilities

• Help manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
• Travel within the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator; oversee pharmacy operations and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts without overlap.
• Support and direct the pharmacy team in safe, accurate prescription fulfillment by following workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation.
• Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty.
• Promote positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the pharmacy team, collaborating with patients’ healthcare teams, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
• Offer and deliver immunizations and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
• Manage pharmacy inventory effectively across assigned pharmacies, following best practices and protecting cold-chain products.
• Remain flexible to meet scheduling and business needs and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
• Maintain clinical and technical skills, complete company-required training and continuing medical education, and seek opportunities to expand knowledge.
• Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care, including testing and prescribing services where permissible; empower the pharmacy team to provide holistic care.
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies and procedures, including requirements related to patient safety, controlled substances, privacy, security, and workplace safety.
• Attend work regularly and predictably, including nights and weekends.
• Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by a Supervisor or Manager.
