About The Position

Requirements

• O.D. degree from an accredited institution.
• Licensed to practice optometry in the State of Michigan.
• Active DPA and TPA certifications.
• Knowledge of current practice patterns.
• Ability to independently practice within current standards of care.
• Ability to make appropriate referrals for care or services when needed.
• Clear and professional communication skills.
• Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Accept and utilize criticism when given.
• Organizational and technical skills.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills to work with patients, peers, support staff, and clinical leadership.

Nice To Haves

• Diplomate of American Board of Optometry, fellowship, and/or residency certification.
• Experience working within FQHC setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive eye care, including routine vision examinations and screenings.
• Interpret diagnostic tests.
• Treat and manage ocular disease.
• Fit contact lenses for a diverse patient population.
• Maintain complete and accurate patient records using an electronic health record system.
• Complete charts in a timely manner according to company policy.
• Adhere to coding and billing guidelines and regulations.
• Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of department clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Monitor and assist with the development and training of essential support staff (Optometric Technicians and Opticians).
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Vision Services.
• Attend department and company meetings as necessary.
