About The Position
The Obesity Medicine Physician provides outpatient medical care in a weight management clinic at locations in Hinsdale and/or Elmhurst, Illinois. The full-time position is 40 hours per week, with 34 hours of patient-facing care and 6 hours of administrative time. Hours are to be determined; the clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The provider will work one early morning and one evening shift ending at 6 p.m. The role includes one day per week of telehealth if or when space constraints occur. The physician evaluates and treats patients, supports wellness and preventive health education, makes referrals and follow-up decisions, prescribes treatment, orders tests and services, and documents care. The physician collaborates with the Medical Director and other professionals, may oversee Advanced Practice Providers, and participates in quality improvement, continuing education, and teaching activities as needed. The annual salary range is $220,000–$379,000. Placement in the range depends on factors including FTE, experience, certifications, degrees, subspecialties, projected volumes, and quality performance. Experienced external candidates are eligible for a sign-on bonus.
Requirements
- Illinois medical license required.
- Federal DEA registration and Illinois Controlled Substance License required.
- Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
- Current certification in Obesity Medicine.
- BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities
- Interview, examine, and treat clinical patients to meet their medical needs.
- Educate patients and families on wellness, prevention, and early detection, providing materials and resources.
- Share patient-care duties with other physicians to ensure physician availability.
- Determine appropriate referrals based on examination findings and patient needs.
- Determine the urgency of follow-up and referral or consultation appointments.
- Exercise final medical judgment in matters of health care.
- Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs.
- Order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
- Document all services in patient medical records.
- Regularly review long-term cases requiring ongoing medical attention.
- Consult with the Medical Director and other staff professionals about patient care, assessment, and education as needed.
- Participate in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient-care programs required by the hospital or clinic.
- Oversee Advanced Practice Providers as needed.
- Assist with resolving patient complaints, requests, and inquiries.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.
- Participate in teaching sessions for hospital and medical staff, residents, and/or medical students when needed or requested.
