About The Position

Requirements

• Completion of an approved nurse practitioner program for CRNP candidates.
• Graduation from a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) for PA candidates.
• Current state RN license and CRNP certification for CRNP candidates.
• Current state PA license and certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for PA candidates.
• Current CPR certification.
• Act 34 Clearance.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, other providers, staff, departments, patients, and families.
• Ability to work productively and effectively in a complex environment, handle multiple or changing priorities, and use specialized equipment.
• Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities related to patient care; good clinical judgment.
• Critical thinking skills to apply and lead others in applying acceptable standards of practice.
• Mobility and visual manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
• Successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the business unit practice.
• For Senior level: at least 3 years of experience or completion of a post-graduate residency.
• For Senior level: completion of national certification.
• For Senior level: a Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on the annual performance evaluation for consideration and to maintain status annually.
• For Senior level: completion of an OAPP-approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion into the position.
• For Senior level: department chair approval for promotion.
• For Senior level: applicable ACLS, ITLS, NALS, PALS, or other listed certification meeting AHA standards, including didactic and skills demonstration components, within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or MSN for CRNP candidates.
• Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience for CRNP candidates.
• BS or MS for PA candidates.
• Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting for PA candidates.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care for a group of patients and their families using independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with the care team.
• Evaluate and manage patients with nephrology conditions, including chronic kidney disease, hypertension, glomerular diseases, electrolyte disorders, and kidney stone disease.
• Formulate plans of care that consider individual patient needs and provide care according to department policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the health care team, verbally and in documentation.
• Apply critical thinking and good clinical judgment in professional practice.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians, health care providers, patients, and families.
• Identify patient and family education needs and provide basic education to support the episode of care.
• Engage in clinical development, seek learning opportunities and feedback, and maintain a plan for continued professional development.
• Use knowledge of research and evidence-based practice, participate in learning activities such as journal clubs, and identify opportunities to improve clinical practice.
• Support patient safety, quality, satisfaction, and workplace safety; identify opportunities for improvement and participate in change initiatives.
• Demonstrate accountability for professional development and contribute to healthy working relationships among colleagues and disciplines.
• Set priorities, support colleagues in service to patients and families, and potentially participate in task forces or other initiatives.
• Assess patient data and interpret information needed to identify age-specific requirements, applying knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
