About The Position

Requirements

• At least 1–2 years of welding experience.
• MIG welding experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and basic prints.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Must pass an AWS 4G welding test.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to fulfill essential job functions consistently while alert and working safely.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of oxy/acetylene and plasma cutter use.
• TIG welding experience; TIG work is limited.

Responsibilities

• Identify, correct, or report safety hazards to prevent accidents.
• Identify and pursue cost-reduction and efficiency or profit-improvement opportunities.
• Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and Sea Box Quality Policy, including self-inspection of work.
• Read blueprints and use drawings or templates to lay out, measure, and mark material.
• Drill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets.
• Fasten seams and joints using welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonds to assemble or repair products.
• Fabricate or alter parts using shears, hammers, punches, and drills.
• Trim, file, grind, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints with hand and portable power tools.
• Operate safety equipment and follow safe work practices.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, primarily using MIG/GMAW welding.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt parts to achieve the required configurations and positions for welding.
• Prepare surfaces for welding using basic hand tools and a grinder.
• Detect faulty equipment operation or defective materials and notify supervisors.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments.
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure them with straightedges or templates to verify conformance with specifications.
• Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including gas metal arc welding equipment.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies before assembly using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
• Lift production objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
