About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Active and valid contractor’s license in the State of Michigan or specialized construction trade-related certifications.
• Ten or more years of experience in a skilled maintenance role.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and ability to access Pine Rest transportation vehicles for job duties.
• Competency using current smartphone, tablet, and computer technology.

Responsibilities

• Perform specialized and general maintenance and repairs throughout facilities and grounds.
• Assemble, construct, and install wood-composition cabinets, shelves, desks, countertops, bulletin boards, backboards, pictures, and similar items.
• Troubleshoot equipment and determine causes of operating errors and appropriate corrective actions.
• Perform minor plumbing maintenance, including repairing leaks, unclogging drains, trenching and laying lines, and replacing drain hoses.
• Perform minor electrical maintenance, including repair or replacement of fixtures, switches, outlets, bulbs, tubes, ballasts, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, and cords using appropriate tools.
• Inspect buildings and equipment.
• Assist with general and planned maintenance routines and perform preventive maintenance.
• Maintain building exteriors and grounds, including assisting with snow removal and seasonal grounds work as needed.
• Meet with contractors to share site-specific information and monitor contractors working nearby.
• Direct and teach lower-skilled workers on new work and repairs.
• Keep workshops and other engineering spaces clean and tidy.
• Complete log sheets, report sheets, and test certificates.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients, employees, and the public.
• Provide input on the efficiency of procedures in the assigned area.
• Maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in department-specific training.
• Participate in the on-call rotation, including emergency coverage for plumbing, HVAC, and other general maintenance.
• Assist other maintenance workers as needed.
