About The Position
The College of Western Idaho is hiring a part-time Medical Assisting Lab Assistant to support instructors and students in hands-on laboratory instruction. The assistant demonstrates and reinforces medical assisting skills, guides students through clinical activities, and helps maintain a safe, supportive learning environment. The role also involves preparing lab spaces and equipment, managing instructional materials and supplies, following lab safety and compliance requirements, and contributing to program activities that support instructional quality and student success. The position starts in the Spring 2027 semester and is scheduled for 5–10 hours per week in the afternoons. Successful candidates must reside in Idaho by their first day of work. Employment visa sponsorship is not available.
Requirements
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
- Current in clinical practice.
- Must reside in Idaho by the first day of work.
Responsibilities
- Assist instructors during lab sessions by demonstrating and reinforcing medical assisting skills.
- Guide students through hands-on lab activities and help ensure a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment.
- Serve as a professional role model for the standards and values of the medical assisting profession.
- Set up, organize, and clean laboratory spaces and equipment according to daily study plans and safety protocols.
- Ensure materials and supplies are available and properly maintained for instructional needs.
- Follow college and program policies for lab operations, safety, and compliance.
- Participate in orientation, mentoring, and course team meetings as requested.
- Stay current in clinical practice to maintain expertise in medical assisting procedures.
- Support program activities that enhance instructional quality and student success.
